Profile Management

Keep your account information current and personalize your BiblioCommons experience with updated profile details and preferences.

Update profile information

  1. Navigate to Account Settings from your profile menu.
  2. Click Edit Profile to modify your personal information.
  3. Update your name, email address, phone number, and contact preferences.
  4. Add or change your profile photo to personalize your account.
  5. Include a brief bio or reading interests in your profile description.
  6. Click Save Changes to apply your updates.

Customize your public profile

  1. Go to Profile Settings and select Public Profile.
  2. Choose what information is visible to other users (name, photo, reading activity).
  3. Enable or disable your public reading lists and shelf visibility.
  4. Control whether others can see your reviews and ratings.

Account preferences

  1. Access General Preferences in your account settings.
  2. Set your preferred language and regional format options.
  3. Choose default views for search results and item displays.
  4. Configure email and communication preferences.

Library Cards

Manage all your library cards in one place, add new library systems, and ensure your borrowing privileges are active across all your libraries.

View linked library cards

  1. Go to Account Settings and select Library Cards.
  2. Review all currently linked library systems and their status.
  3. Check expiration dates and renewal requirements for each card.
  4. Note any cards showing as expired or requiring attention.

Add a new library card

  1. Click Add Library Card in your account settings.
  2. Search for your library system by name or location.
  3. Enter your library card number and PIN/password.
  4. Verify your account information matches your library records.
  5. Complete any additional verification steps required.

Update card information

  1. Select the library card you want to update.
  2. Click Edit or the gear icon next to the card.
  3. Update your card number, PIN, or contact information as needed.
  4. Save changes and verify the connection is working properly.

Notification Preferences

Control how and when you receive notifications about holds, due dates, recommendations, and community activity.

Email notifications

  1. Access Notification Settings in your account preferences.
  2. Configure email alerts for due dates, holds ready for pickup, and overdue items.
  3. Set preferences for recommendation emails and new release notifications.
  4. Choose frequency settings (immediate, daily digest, or weekly summary).

Mobile notifications

  1. Download your library's mobile app if available.
  2. Enable push notifications for important account updates.
  3. Set location-based notifications for when you're near your library.
  4. Configure reminder settings for upcoming due dates.

Privacy & Security

Protect your account and control what information is visible to other users in the BiblioCommons community.

Privacy settings

  1. Navigate to Privacy Settings in your account menu.
  2. Choose who can see your reading activity (public, friends, or private).
  3. Control visibility of your shelves, reviews, and ratings.
  4. Set preferences for appearing in community member searches.

Security measures

  1. Regularly update your password using strong, unique combinations.
  2. Review login activity and report any suspicious access.
  3. Enable two-factor authentication if available.
  4. Keep your recovery email address current and secure.

Activity & History

Track your reading history, review past activity, and manage your digital footprint within the library system.

View reading history

  1. Go to My Activity or Reading History in your account.
  2. Browse items you've checked out, reviewed, or added to shelves.
  3. Use filters to find specific titles or date ranges.
  4. Export your reading history if the feature is available.

Manage activity data

  1. Review and edit your reviews and ratings as needed.
  2. Remove items from your reading history if desired.
  3. Update or delete outdated shelf contents.
  4. Clear or modify old search and browsing data.
