Narrow down your search results using filters and refinement tools to find exactly the type of content you need.

Using format filters

  1. After searching, look for the Format filter on the results page
  2. Select specific formats: Books, eBooks, Audiobooks, DVDs, Music CDs, etc.
  3. Choose digital formats if you prefer downloadable content
  4. Select physical formats if you want to visit the library

Availability and location filters

  1. Use Available Now to see only items you can check out immediately
  2. Filter by Library Location to find items at your preferred branch
  3. Select New Arrivals to see recently added materials
  4. Apply Popular filters to see highly-rated or frequently borrowed items

Content and audience filters

  1. Filter by Publication Date to find recent or historical materials
  2. Use Language filters for non-English content
  3. Apply Audience filters (Adult, Teen, Children) for age-appropriate content
  4. Select Fiction/Non-fiction to focus on your preferred content type

Recommendations

Discover new favorites through personalized recommendations, community suggestions, and curated collections.

Personal recommendations

  1. Rate items you've read to improve your personalized suggestions
  2. Check your Recommendations page for AI-generated suggestions
  3. Review the "Because you liked..." sections on item pages
  4. Explore "Users who borrowed this also borrowed..." suggestions

Community recommendations

  1. Read user reviews and ratings to guide your choices
  2. Follow users whose tastes align with yours
  3. Browse public shelves created by other community members
  4. Participate in reading challenges and community events

Staff picks and curated lists

  1. Browse Staff Picks for librarian-recommended titles
  2. Explore curated collections organized by theme or genre
  3. Check seasonal and holiday reading lists
  4. Look for book club selections and discussion group picks

Explore the collection using browsing features that help you discover materials serendipitously or by category.

Category browsing

  1. Use the Browse menu to explore by subject categories
  2. Navigate through genre hierarchies (Fiction → Mystery → Cozy Mystery)
  3. Browse by Dewey Decimal categories for non-fiction materials
  4. Explore special collections and local history materials

Visual browsing

  1. Use Cover View to browse results visually by book covers
  2. Explore the Virtual Shelf to see items as they appear on library shelves
  3. Browse New Arrivals sections with visual displays

Tag and keyword browsing

  1. Click on tags associated with items to find similar materials
